略谈英语音标体系的更新问题

Updating of Transcription in English Teaching

本文从我国英语教学的角度讨论了英语国际音标体系更新的问题。A .C .Gimson的音标体系科学、实用 ,比D .Jones的音标体系更符合现代英语语音理论的要求。采用A .C .Gimson的音标体系 ,有利于英语教学中一些具体问题的解决 ,也可以减少美音音标体系可能给学生带来的混乱。

This paper discusses the importance of updating the transcription in English teaching in China. A.C. Gimsons system of transcription is more scientific in representing the pronunciation of current British English, as compared with that of D.Jones, which have been used in China for decades. The adoption of Gimsons transcription can be more helpful in teaching English pronunciation and in reducing possible confusion caused to the students by some of the symbols used by J.S.Kenyon and T.A.Knott which are similar or identical in form but different in value.
