The China Afforestation Office has announced that by the end of 2002, China's afforested areas reached a record of 7.467 hectares. According to the public circular issued by the office, afforested areas increased by 50.76% last year over the year before and 90% of these areas were up to standard. Breakthroughs were achieved in both quantity and quality.
