As part of its WTO commitments,China is set to lift geographical and numerical restrictions in its retail sector this year. This will provide greatopportunities for foreign retail companies that already have a strong footing in China. The major players on the scene are US-based Wal-Mart,France-based Carrefour, and Germanybased Metro.
