Some 1, 4-Benzoquinones and 1, 4-Naphthoquinones with Aryl-or Alkyltelluro Substituents

Tetrachloro-1. 4-benzoquinone and 2. 3-dichloro-1. 4-naphthoquinone react with a va-riety of aryl or alkyl tellurolate, generated either by the reaction of Grignard reagents andtellurium powder or by the reduction of ditelluride with sodium borohydride, to give 2. 5-diaryl (alkyl) telluro-3. 6-dichloro-1, 4-benzoquinones and 2. 3-diaryl (alkyl) telluro-1. 4-naphthoquinones in good yields.
