This paper presents an interpretive analysis of the expletives used in various types and situations, the lexical figures and the differences between male and female speakers both in choice of items and in purposes, interactive functions in discourse and the grammatical characteristics as well, and attempts to indicate the semantic and pragmatic figures and functions of expletives that occur in conversations.
