夸张(hyperbole)是英汉两种语言中一种常见的修辞手法,具有很高的美学价值和积极的修辞作用。从概念、语用类型和语用功能三个方面对英汉语中该修辞格进行比较与探讨。

Hyperbole is a type of figure of speech often employed in both English and Chinese with its aesthetic values and rhetorical functions. In this paper, the author makes a new tentative approach to the figure of speech of hyperbole by presenting a comparative study of English and Chinese on three aspects: definition, classification and pragmatic function.
