Wen Ting-shi's Acceptance of Suxin

清代著名词人文廷式对苏辛的接受,主要表现在两个方面:其一,理论上倡导革新意识,树立“不尚苟同”的词学理念,进一步继承和发扬了苏辛的“以诗为词”、“以文为词”的创作观,充分发挥词的抒情功能;其二,文廷式的个性胆识、精神内核和气度胸襟与苏辛相近,故有苏辛式的豪放选择,精神上直承苏辛,创作技法上踵武苏辛,但文廷式的生活遭遇、个性气质与苏辛有所不同,因而对苏辛的接受具有承与变的双重特征,在词作中显现出有别于苏辛的独到词境和风格。

Wen Tingshi,a famous Ci master in Qin Dynasty, accepted Suxin in two aspects: firstly he advocated the innovation consciousness and set up the principle of not formally agreeing without giving serious thought.He further inherited and developed Suxin's theory, for example,' taking poem as Ci' ; ' taking article as Ci'. He brought the lyric function of Ci into full play. Secondly his personality including the courage and insight,the spirit and the tolerance is similar with Suxin.So he had the bold and unconstrained choice. He inherited Suxin directly both in spirit and in artistic technique. However, for some difference in the life experience and temperament, he accepted Suxin with double characteristics of inheriting and changing. Wen had his unique artistic style when creating.
