Rose Red is a cross variety selected from a Brighton× Gong 52-34 (Muscat Hamburg ×Vitis amuresis Rupr. )in 1970. It was named by the Committee of Crop Examine and Approve Heilongjiang Province in February ,1992. This variety can withstand as a low temperature as -39. 5℃ and there is no cold damage during winter, covered with soil for 10 cm. The variety has characters such as female flower, compact berries, round purplish red. Average cluster weight is 187. 52g. The content of soluble solids, reducing sugar, titra table acidity and ascorbic acid in the fruit juice are 17. 67%~21%,15. 29%~19. 73%,1. 13%,1. 254mg/100g,respectively. This variety is a table grape. Bud break rate is 73. 98%. Fruit shoot percentage among all new shoots reaches 87. 95%. For a 6 year old vineyard, the fruit yield might be as high as 2. 6kg per m^2. The growth peroid from bud break to fruit ripening is 117 days. Rose Red is suitable to be cultivated especialy at the high latitude where has cold winter and short frostless period.
