摘要
A total of 66 Paleolithic sites(localities)have been discovered in Hubei.Among them,37 are Lower Paleolithic,20 are Middle Paleolithic,and nine are Upper Paleolithic.Several thousands Paleolithic specimens have been published in recent years.The Lower and Middle Paleolithic sites are predominately distributed on the slopes of Hanshui River and Changjiang River basins.These stone tools are similar to the pebble tradition of southern China.They are made of river pebbles that the cortex.The sites of Upper Paleolithic distributed on the banks of small flowing rivers.The stone tools of this period resembled the flake tradition of northern
