All the semi-tile-ends unearthed from the site of Yan State Lower Capital have a semicircular plan, which is shaped by dividing into halves the body made in a circular mold with design. In the process of making, some till-ends were miscut along the diameter vertical to the normal cutting line. This led to the formation of extraordinary designs, which draw attention for their rarity. Among the four types of miscut semi-tile-ends known so far, those with the so-called 'vertical eye, cloud, hydra and taotie mask design' and 'dancer figures in relief and integlio ' are improperly denominated and explained. In the present paper, the authors distinguish these mistakes and put forward their own views by analyzing related material and literary evidence.
