重庆云阳李家坝东周墓地1997年发掘报告

EXCAVATION OF AN EASTERN ZHOU CEMETERY AT LIJIABA OF YUNYANG, CHONGQING IN 1997

重庆市云阳县李家坝遗址是长江三峡水库淹没区内的一处重要古文化遗址，于1987年四川省文物普查时发现。为配合长江三峡水库工程建设，1992-1993年四川省文物考古研究所先后对该遗址进行了复查和试掘。

Archaeology Specialty of Sichuan University et al carried out a large scaled excavation of Eastern Zhou cemetery at Lijiaba of Yunyang, Chongqing Municipality for the first time from October 1997 through January 1998, which led to a revelation of 40 burials. All the tombs are of shaft tombs with wooden tomb furniture. The tomb is generally of single burial with bent arms and outstretched legs. 8 burials interred with human sacrifices. The grave goods are often 3 to 8 objects; the least is only 1 to 2 items, while 17 are the maximum. A big batch of pottery and bronzes and a small number of lacquers were recovered. The pottery mainly includes guan jars, fu cauldrons, yu basins, dou stemmed bowls, hu bottles, lei containers, weng urns, li tripods, yan steamers, ding tripods, dui tripods, jiaohu 鐎壶 and spoons. The bronzes consist of swords, spears, battle-axes, axes, halberds, arrowheads, knives, cauldrons or helmets, ding, spoons, hu and bet cups. The cemetery can be divided into three stages, which corresponds to the late Spring and Autumn through the early late Warring States period. The strong Ba cultural features show this graveyard must be left by Ba people, while the Chu culture exerted strong influence to it. The discovery of this cemetery demonstrates that Lijiaba might be a regional central settlement of Ba State in this area and helps us to comprehensive the cultural features and activities of Ba people of Eastern Zhou period in the Three Gorges area. It also furnishes new knowledge to understand the growth and decline of cultures and the relationship between Ba State and Chu State, and the cultural exchanges with neighboring cultures.
