The English and Chinese nations are d ifferent in their cultural contexts.Because of the different geographi cal habits and customs,religious beliefs,thi nking -ways,and historic background,differences arise between the two cul-tures:different associations of me anings of words;associations that belong to one cult ure,but do not exist in anoth-er.This paper discusses the implied meanings outside the literal ones.
