摘要
时间和因果是情节的主要因素 ,两者通常紧密相连。在虚构作品中 ,有一个按时间顺序发展的自然故事 ,还有一个讲出来的文本故事。本文通过对多部作品中序列编排实例的考察 ,旨在说明那些看似任意的序列连接不仅能构造出既定的逻辑关系 ,而且能产生深刻的话语含义 。
In plot structure 'time' and 'cause/effect relationship' are two major elements that are closely related. In every fiction, there is the distinction between story and plot. The former is the original incident that takes place in the natural time sequence; the latter is the story that is actually told. Very often the author expresses his intention by means of sequence arrangement rather than by an explicit discourse. For example, the artificial ordering of the events can suggest logical significance, which the reader comes to see through inference.
