The reading of 'foreign' texts is but a cross cultural event. This paper, while critically employing some contemporary post colonial feminist theories from critics such as Edward Said and bell hooks, analyzes the Eurocentric and hegemonic re imagination of Pocahontas in popular Disney film Pocahontas with a focus on ethnicity, articulation and cultural appropriation. It calls for a more balanced albeit critical (re )reading of Western cultural products in the post colonial cultural context.
