摘要
<说剑>篇收录于<庄子>一书,一般人视为哲学论文.细加研读,我们就会发觉,<说剑>篇具备武侠小说的条件,在风格和描写手法上与欧洲史诗一脉相通.本文就"武"、"侠"、"小说"三方面证明,<说剑>是一篇武侠小说.由于这篇作品在写作时间上先于唐人传奇,也早于司马迁的<游侠列传>、<刺客列传>诸篇,因此是武侠小说的鼻祖.在描写武器和叙事时,<说剑>所用的手法与荷马的<伊利昂纪>、<奥德修纪>、维吉尔的<埃涅阿斯纪>、但丁的<神曲>、弥尔顿的<失乐园>等欧洲史诗相近,因此又是欧洲史诗的远亲.
The Discourse on Swords', collected in Zhuang Zi, is generally regarded as a philosophical treatise. Close study may reveal that it has the qualities of works of martial arts fiction, and that, in terms of style and descriptive techniques, it has close affinities with European epics. This paper is an attempt to show, with reference to wu(martial arts), xia (chivalrous swordsman), and xiaoshuo (fiction), that 'The Discourse on Swords' is a work of martial arts fiction. As it was written before the Tang romances as well as Sima Qian's 'The Biographies of Wandering Knights', 'The Biographies of Assassins'and the likes, it is the genre's earliest ancestor. In describing weapons and in narrating events, it uses techniques similar to those used in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Virgil's Aeneid, Dante's Divine Comedy,and Milton's Paradise Lost. For this reason,it is also a distant relative of European epics.
