China boasts a long history in translation criticism. And enlightened by the treasured historical legacy, many translators and translation theorists today have begun again to dwell upon the subject in their theses and books. Of all the publications, we have every reason to regard the appearance of Random Talks on Translation Criticism as one of the highlights in the respect. Encouraged by the valorous spirit of the writer, the author of this paper has made bold to present some of his ideas of the book, attempting to point out and comment on both its merits and its demerits in an unbiased way.
