A cultural analysis is made of American Beauty, the biggest winner of the 2000 Awards of Movie Academy of America, from its narrative style, thematic concerns of privacy under camera and generation gap between boomers and echo boomers, with an application of post modernistic cultural theories, especially of the notions of Fredric Jameson and Ihab Hassan The article also points out the significance of analyzing the popular culture toward the scholastic studies
