文章考得梅尧臣天圣九年三十岁前的事迹为:大中祥符六年十二岁前,居宣城故里读书;十二岁至二十五岁,从叔父梅询宦学于襄、鄂、苏州,陕西京兆府,怀、池州和广德军诸地;天圣五年二十六岁完婚,春,往会稽寻访先祖梅福遗迹,交游名士;此前后以荫入仕,历官太庙斋郎、桐城主簿,天圣九年初移河南,仍主簿。天圣中尝举进士落第。其《宛陵集》自天圣九年起存稿,此前之早期大量诗作,手自删弃,亦间可考辑。

A great number of poetical works written before this year , having been deleted and changed by himself , somehow can also serve as the evidence of his early life .
