The Common Properties and Differences of the Middle Constructions in German and English

中间结构是德语和英语中共有的一种语言现象.本文从句法结构和语义结构的角度,对德语和英语的中间结构做了比较,找出了它们的基本同异点,并对其进行了分析讨论.结果表明,德语和英语的中间结构都同时具备了中间结构的典型基本特征和语法功能.除了部分句法结构上的不同外,它们在语义结构和其他各个方面都很相似.

Middle constructions are a common language phenomenon in German and English. This paper approaches the middle constructions in German and English in the syntactic and semantic perspectives. By comparing middle constructions in these two languages this paper demonstrates the major ways in which middle constructions can vary cross-linguistically. And one conclusion has been drown: The middle constructions in both languages exhibit the typical properties and grammatical functions of the middle constructions in common. Besides some morphosyntactic differences German and English middle constructions are very much alike.
