Communications between peoples in different cultures are communications across cultures. During the translation between Chinese and English, the translator must know the cultural differences between Chinese and English. In order to give the accurate translation, the following background knowledge should be made clear in advance--historical backgrounds, geographical environments, religions, customs, social politics and literature and art of both languages.
