This paper analyses the influence of dual role on women's federations in performing their functions as the representative and protector of women's interests. According to the author, the one role of women's federations bears on their legal status and the other role bears on their authoritation. If a women's federation wants to prove its worth, the author points out, it must handle well the pulling force of its dual role and, in its specific historical perspective, find a way out by using its strengths and avoiding its weaknesses.
