文学作品中人物非标准言语的翻译手法初探

On translating characters' non-standard utterances in literary works

本文在分析各著名翻译家对文学作品中人物的非标准言语的翻译后 ,总结出英语中非标准言语的汉译手法 ,即 :一以错译错法 ;二融入法 ;三修正法 ;四终合法。在选择以上四种手法时 ,必须掌握翻译的度 ,作者指出了译者应遵循的三个总原则 ,即 :功能对等为主 ,形式相似为辅 。

Based on the analysis of various translators' renderings of characters' non standard utterances in literary works, the author summarizes four methods to translate non standard utterances from English to Chinese, i.e. using corresponding non standard Chinese characters and giving the correct into the target language; replacing with standard Chinese method; the comprehensive method. The author points out the vital importance of the extent to which non standard utterances should be rendered and presents three general principles, i.e., functional equivalence comes first; resemblance in form second; the third, acceptability. Finally, the author suggests two ways to improve the ability to represent characters' non standard utterances in literary works, i.e., raising stylistic awareness and going into the society to enrich our language repertoire.
