世纪沧桑 百年巨变──山西“百年回首”摄影展观后

A Sea Change of the Century -Notes on Retrospect of the Century,a photo exhibition

On the threshold of a new century, cosponsored by the Publicity Department of Shanxi provincial Party committee, Shanxi Culture Confederation, and Shanxi Photo Journalist Association, Retrospect of the Century -- a photo show of Shanxi’s one hundred years’( 1901-2000) memories -- raised the curtain. The exhibit displayed more than 300 narrative photographs that flung the viewers, feeling vicariously the vicissitudes, back to the early period of the passing 20th century. From the exposition, we can witness the sufferings of the old Shanxi in the beginning of the century and the unflinching struggles by the patriotic people of Shanxi against the feudal and imperial rule and oppression; from the presentation, we can feel the colossal sacrifices as well as the huge contribution by the people of Shanxi to the successes of the Anti -- Japanese War and the Liberation War; from the demonstration, we can observe the giant strides made by Shanxi people, who, together with the people of the whole country, are guided by the Chinese Communist Party, towards socialist construction after a brand -- new China was established; and from the spectacle, we can watch the unprecedented achievements made by the people of Shanxi since the Third Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Parly held in December, 1978, a meeting symbolizing the start of the nation wide reform and open- ing-up drive.
