A Discussion About Correcting the Meaning of Da Fang Zhi Jia（“大方之家”正义）

成语“大方之家”源自《庄子·秋水》篇，其训释向无异议。此前杨琳先生对其提出新说加以辨正，释之为“大国之人家”。本文就其论点、论据加以质疑辩驳，肯定传统训释有其合理性，无须标新立异。

The traditional explanation of the set phrase Da Fang Zhi Jia（大方之家） originating from Qiu Shui（秋水）in the Zhuang Zi（庄子） is “a learned man with a noble mind ”. However, Yang Lin（杨琳） has put forward a new justifiable interpretation which means “a family in a big country”. This paper attempts to make some critical comments on the arguments and grounds of arguments set forth by Yang Lin（杨琳）, emphasizing that the traditional explaination still holds water.
