A proof for the adscription of Heshan Brach of Caodong Sect to Southern Mountain Chan Lineage

一般认为源于药山的曹洞宗属于青原一系,但事实上药山一门对此并非一致承认。属于药山门下道悟系的禾山直到五代末年及宋初时仍然坚持南岳与荷泽两家并立之说,不承认青原系的地位,这表明药山一支未必出自青原。

Caodong Sect, originated from Yao Shan, is commonly considered as a branch of Qing Yuan lineage. But this was not accepted unanimously by all the Yao Shan offspring. He Shan, in the Dao Wu lineage from Yao Shan, insisted the equal Position of Southern Mountain and He Ze, and did not acknowledge the status of Qing Yuan lineage. This suggested that Yao Shan might not originate from Qing Yuan.
