From Semantic Comprehension and Grammar Analysis to Accurate Translation

语义理解与语法分析在翻译表达过程中是首先遇到并应当处理好的两个重要方面。本文从英译汉的角度，用较多的实例论证了上述观点并得出了这样的结论：语义理解准确才能够译对；语法分析无误才能够译通。

Semantic comprehension and grammar analysis are the two important tasks that a translator has to take up first and deal with properly in the process of translation. Focusing on English-to-Chinese translation, the article illustrates this point with a considerable number of concrete examples. The conclusion is that accuracy in semantic comprehension makes a translation accurate while correctness in grammar analysis renders a translation coherent.
