摘要
本文认为,《送冰的人来了》1946年首演失败和1956年复演成功都可归因于该剧内在的荒诞色彩。虽然从严格意义上看,该剧尚不具备荒诞剧的全部特征,但是它在内容和形式上已经接近荒诞,反映了作者的存在主义意识,从而获得新一代观众和读者的认同。
The Iceman Cometh is one of O'Neill's late plays. Its failure and success can both be attributed to its dramatic features of the absurd. Although this play does not carry all the characteristics of the theatre of the absurd, its closest approach to absurdism both in content and form reveals O'Neill's existential philosophy and thus wins the audience of new generations.
