Tokieda Motoki, a famous Japanese linguist, advanced a new theory that language is a process. His theory is distinct from the view that language is a tool. According to this view, language is a process of peoples expression and understanding. This view is intrinsically distinct from Saussures linguistic view. Miura Tutomu has elaborated on this linguistic view systematically. He thinks that language is the result of expressing and understanding—sounds or words. There are mentalistic and mechanical materialistic tendency in this linguistic view, despite its novelty compared with the linguistic view that language is a tool.
