Concurrency of Chinese Prepositions and Its Translation into English

翻译中不可避免地会碰到汉语介词兼作动词这一兼类现象。“在”“给”“有”等在语篇中的英译须体现这种兼类特征。对鲁迅《野草》英译本的有关译文的考察表明 ,介词兼作动词这一兼类特征的体现有助于更加准确地英译 。

Chinese prepositions which can function both as preposition and verb and the corresponding translation of them are common in Chinese English translation. Translating of the words like zai, gei, you into English must reflect this feature of preposition in Chinese. A detailed investigation of Lu Xun's Wild Grass and its translated version shows that the realization of the concurrency will lend itself to better translation, and the English will in turn help to further clarify the features of these Chinese words.
