In this article, the author gives original explanatory notes on the implied meaning of Supplement of a Journey to the West. By making a comparative discussion, the author reveals that in fluenced by the development and evolution of Buddhist philosophy and trends of thought in Yang Ming's mental philosophy in Late Ming Dynasty, the novel presents the inner course of the writer himself and breals through the ideal frame for pursuing the ethical personality embodied in the story “the true Monkey king and the false one” in Record of a Journey to the West.
