摘要 Levinas is one of the most famous contemporary phenomenlolgists, and also he is an expert on Hebrew traditional culture, especially on Talmud exegetics. Now the problem is what the status of Jewish culture in Levinal’philosophyis. After an inquiry into both Levinas’phenomenological and Jewish backgrounds, his main philosophical terms and special perspective, such as“face”and“You shall not kill”,“saying”and “here I am”,“God as the absolute other”,are discussed. The Jewish roots are found in these philosophical themes. So,we can say that Levinas tries to say something other than Greek tradition by philosophical way, for the purpose of arousing Western philosophy to hear another voice.
