中原地区西周青铜短剑简论

Studies on the Bronze Daggers of the Western Zhou from Central Plains

西周时期的青铜短剑在中原地区约发现40余件,有些标本的年代可早到周初,可以印证文献中有关周人用剑的记载。西周时期已形成几个青铜短剑系统,并存发展。中原地区的短剑,应是受早期巴蜀文化以及中原晚商文化短剑的影响,形成了一个相对独立的短剑系统,其形制与北方、南方同时期的短剑明显不同,相互影响均较少。

Some of the forty bronze daggers of the Western Zhou from Central Plains seem to be survivals from early Zhou, reminding one of the reference in old annals to the adoption of daggers by the Zhou. Several branches had developed out of the bronze dagger family by the Zhou era. Those from the Central Plains owe a lot to the joint influence to the early Ba-Shu and late Shang cultures. This relatively independent branch is quite different from other contemporary daggers in northern and southern parts of the country. Little interaction has been identified among them.
