Ever since its emergence, Western Cultural Critique has drawn broad attention to its theoretical reflection on and critical intervention with many academic fields and has gradually become a dominant methodology. This paper is a brief discussion of Cultural Studies as a critical discourse, focusing on mass culture and the nature of the cultural industry, and extends to the contextualization of the theory and practice of Cultural Studies in contemporary China.
