A LONG ROAD WITH HEAVY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PEACE PROCESS ON KOREAN PENINSULA

今年以来，朝鲜半岛局势出现了以北南首脑会晤为主要标志的重大进展。但是，由于朝韩双方对和解和平进程中主动权和主导权的争夺、周边大国在半岛的战略利益等诸多不确定因素的存在，朝鲜半岛的和平进程仍任重道远。

In their article, the authors, while being positive to the first North-South summit and the significant development thereafter in Korean Peninsula’s peace process,point out that what happened recently between the two Koreas was but the first step toward North-South rapprochement, that there are still many uncertainties to be seen under current situation. First, the road leading to final peace will be a long and zigzag one and the struggle for the upper hand in North-South relations will be critical. Second, the conflict of the peripheral big powers over their own strategic interests would certainly enhance the uncertainty in the process. The United States, Japan, Russia and China will view differently the possible change caused by the rapid development of North-South relations according to the two Koreas’ approaches toward eachother.
