翻译是借助语言进行各种文化信息传递的活动，文化差异往往构成了翻译的难题。本文从词语和话语两方面对比了英汉语中的文化内涵，指出了它们之间的差异，以便译者在不同语言的互译中，既对语言进行必要地转换，又注重文化内涵的准确反映。

This paper examines the cultural differences between Chinese and English in terms of lexes and utterances. Languages are culturespecific and cultural messages are generally conveyed through the language. A translator, therefore, needs to take account of the culture-related messages in translating, with a view to accurately and appropriately representing in the target language the cultural ideas in the source text.
