ECONOMIC SITUATION IN ASIA AND SINO-JAPANESE ECONOMIC RELATIONS

亚洲各国加速调整本国经济结构，努力扩大区域内经贸合作，使亚洲经济迅速走出金融危机的阴影，进入了一个崭新的发展阶段。中日经济关系作为亚洲经济合作关系的主要组成部分，已日趋成熟。随着中国加入WTO和西部大开发，中日经济合作的前景将更为宽广。

As a senior economist, especially a long time student of Japanese economics, Zhang has been regularly attending various economics relevant meentings both home and abroad. This article is an outline of his lecture to be delivered at symposium between Chinese and Japanese scholars to be held in Tokyo shortly. The article makes some conclusive judgments for the current economic situation in Asia: ① The Asian economy has stepped out of the shadow of crisis. ② The root cause of trouble in Asian economy lies in the sluggishness of the structural reform. ③ Asia needs regional cooperation for its economic development. As for the Sino Japanese economic relations, the article holds that the relationship has become increasingly mature and the two countries will have many opportunities to develop bilateral and regional cooperation.
