The author believes that it is of important significance even today to study the historical experience of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. We must take a clearcut stand, dare to struggle and be good at it when faced with such vital issues as concerning the destiny of the nation; establish a powerful national defense so as to maintain an environment of peace for economic construction; keep pace with the time in army building, establish a scientific organizational structure and develop new weapons systems and equipment; exercise correct guidance of war and adopt flexible tactics to ensure our victory over an enemy armed with superior weapons and equipment; and strengthen political work in the army, a reliable guarantee for our combat power. All this willhelp strengthen army building in the new period and preparations for military struggles.
