Synchronous Method and Diachronous Method in the Study of Literature Obsolesence

应用引文分析法研究科技文献的老化,指出同时法曲线与历时法曲线可以互相合成,如果同时法与历时法等价、任意两条同时法或历时法曲线平移后必定重合。

Using the data of Science Citation Index, this study examined the relationship between synchronous citation study of obsodescence and diachronous citation study. It showed that if the result of synchronous citation study was equal to the result of diachronous one, two arbitrary synchronous (or diachronous) citation curves conincide after translating. This is a full and prerequistie condition. Therefore, strictly, the data of synchronous distribution can not replace that of diachronous distribution, and the perfect symmetry is not available.
