摘要
The works of Wang Shin,a geomorphologist from Taiwan,have illustrated a kind of model for our colleagues in China's Mainland. He is a Professor of the Depattment of Geography,Envronment and Resources,National Taiwan University.He finished his Ph.D. program at Columbia University in New York City in 1973.He also spent some time at ITC,Holland,and University of Cambridge,UK. He is active in ressarch,public talks,writing popular guide books,preparing video programs,and advising govemment affaires.He is at the spearhead of many recently developed study fields,such as remote sensing,environmental impact studies,park interpretation,engineering gromorphology,environmental education and earth heritage conservation.He served as the president of the Chinese National Park Society and the Environmental Education Society for 8 years.And he was seconded to the Ministry of Education on Environmental Protection Affairs for 2 years. He wrote more than 15 books and 400 articles and ressarch reports.His contributions went to the people directly.He has maintained good services to the government affairs including national park management,nature conservation,environmental education,tourism,and sustainable development.His concem is not only science and education,but also love of the mother land.His works related to the quality of life of people.He makes geomorphology a science for daily life in other words,he is a good salesman of geomorphology.
