本文从“翻译界限”的定义谈起 ,论述了“翻译界限”的本质、判断、体现、成因、特性等问题 ,分析了“翻译界限”与翻译目的、语言可译性、译者基本功、国情文化等问题的关系 ,特别是与“翻译困难”的关系和异同 ,指出了“翻译界限”是可变的 ,也是可以不断克服的 ,最后向译者提出了“敢于和善于挑战‘翻译界限’”的要求。

Beginning with the definition of'limitation of translation', this paper goes further into this subject in terms of its essence, differentiation, reflection, cause and characteristics. It analyses the relationship between'limitation of translation' and aim of translation, translatability of language, competency of translator and culture ect.. It also sets clear the demarcation line between 'limitation of translation' and 'difficulty of translation'. At last it calls upon all the translators to try their best to embody the original as much as possible, though there is limitation of translation.
