The paper is intended to describe the prc- found significace of joint-venture railways un- der the conditions of the market economy as well as such corresponding areas as enterprise organization structures,project set-up,fund raising,construction,fare system and wage reform etc,which should adapt themselves to the market economy. The paper also points out that the joint-ven- ture railway is the starting point for the estab- lishment of the new system and mechanism so that the railway can meet the market de- mands.
