Further Demonstration on Zhe (这) Functioning Alone as Subject

本文根据新检得的一些材料，进一步证明：北宋《景德传灯录》“只这（者）便是……”一类格式中的“只”确为表强调的副词，“这（者）”确实单独作主语，因此，“这（者）”单独作主语至迟始于北宋是确凿无疑的。

Based on some new illustrations, this paper further demonstrates that zhi(只) in the pattern 'zhi zhe bian shi...'(“只这便是……” ) in Jingde Chuandeng Lu (景德传灯录) compiled in the Northern Song Dynasty (宋) is indeed adverb expressing emphasis, zhe(这) indeed functions alone as subject, and therefore it is conclusive that zhe(这) began to function alone as subject no later than the Northern Song Dynasty (宋).
