摘要
There is an academic origin of Economic and Social History (ESH) in Western Europe. According to the available material, this paper introduces and analyzes the sources, the basic concepts of ESH and it’s recent development in Western European universities and historical circle. The author thinks that, to some extent, the appearance and development of ESH is not only the consequence of humanization of Western history, especially the economic history,but also the need to describe and grasp the whole society. Introducing this discipline will be of great benefit for the history research field of our country.
