摘要
英语和大多数欧洲语言一样 ,有将来时 长期以来 ,这在英语教学领域里几乎是一个不争的话题。形成这种错误的动词分类方法的根本原因在于对“时态”的错误认识 ,即认为“将来时表示将来时间”。语言学中的一大误区就是把形式和意义对等起来 ,并且互为定义。本文的目的有三 :一是要阐明在不同的上下文里 ,一种形式能够表示多种意义 ,同时一种意义能够有不同的表述形式 ;二是要通过对“时态”的重新定义 ,强化两个时态体系 ;三是要分析比较英语中“将来”的各种表现形式。
That English, like most of the European languages, has a future tense has long been a non refutable issue, especially in the field of the language teaching This wrong categorization is built on the wrong definition of tense and the wrong assumption that “the future tense expresses the future time'——a persistent pitfall in linguistics that form and meaning are equivalent and therefore can be mutually defined The purpose of this paper is three fold First, it aims to bring to light the fact that in different contexts one form can express different meanings and, in the meantime, one meaning can be realized by physically distinct forms Second, it helps to reinforce a two tense system on the basis of redefining the term “tense' And third, it studies the ways in which futurity is expressed in English
