拉菲尔所著《译诗的艺术》一书由两部分组成。本文仅就该书第一部分头两章的主要内容加以摘要转述。即各种语言在语音、句法和词汇上的限制与译诗的艺术。译者所应致力的是令人满意的接近原文。笔者对拉菲尔的论译诗的论点给予了肯定性的评价。

Raffel's book The Art of Translating Poetry consists of two parts.This paper only makes a summary of the main contents of the lst two chapters of Part One,namely,the constraints in phonology,syntax and vocabulary of various languages and the art of the translation of poems.What the translator should aim at is the satisfactorily close approximation to the original.The writer gives some affirmative evaluations on Raffle's arguments about poetic translation.
