摘要
十九世纪,中国数学家、天文学家李善兰研究了国外的测量天文纬度方法,指出了求恒星下中天时入地最深度公式中的一个问题,及使用该法应满足的三个条件,并提出了新的改进方法从而避免了这些局限。本文讨论了他们的方法并认为李善兰对待国外方法的态度应得到赞扬。
In the last century, Chinese mathematician and astronomer Li Shanlan made researches on a method of determining astronomical latitude established by a certain foreigner. He pointed out a trouble in the formula for calculating a star's degree under the horizon (angle of depression) at lower culmination, as well as three prerequisites for the application of the method. In order to avoid these overelaborate prerequisites, he suggested a new revised method. This paper discusses their methods and holds that Li's practical and realistic attitude towards a foreign method should deserve commendation.
