The tang pear,with deep and spreading root system,is generally a small and light- demanding tree.This species attains its maximum development on the bottoms and mid- slopes where soil is rich,moist and alluvial.They are usually scattered in association with other broad-leave trees such as maples,elms, common jujube,and oaks etc,or in a grove.It can also be thrived on the thin, dry soils overlying limestone.Tang pear wood,fine and even- textured,lustred,and is a valuable commercial timber.Although its qualities such as stiffness and toughness are mederate,yet hard-ness and other strengths are excellent.Hence,the wood is more suitably for use in the production of fancy carvings,furniture,musical instruments, decrative plywood panels,interior finish and articales of turncry.
