“信息高速公路”是发达国家着眼于下世纪国力竞争的一个焦点，预示着未来世界信息产业的发展趋势。面对世界高科技的迅速发展，建设我国自己的“信息高速公路”刻不容缓。当前加速推广和应用EDI技术是发展信息产业，建设“信息高速公路”的重要举措。要以系统工程的方法制定发展战略和总体规划，做好组织协调工作。

Building 'Information superhighways' is now a focus of attention for developed countries in their drive to outrival one another in national strength in the 21 centu ry; it is an indication of the trend of development of the world information industry. To meet the challenge posed by the rapid progress in high technology,we must begin immediately to build our 'information superhighway'as a task that brooks no delay. The major step to be adopted at present for this purpose is to puicken our pace in the dissemination and application of EDI technology. We must draw up a development strategy and overall plan by system engineering methods and organize and coordinate the work effectively.
