多媒体通信是未来信息通信发展的方向。在高新技术开发的今天，为避免项目重复开发和科研的盲目性，通信技术开发导向是非常重要的。本文在介绍多媒体通信含义的基础上，从多种媒体的融合、显示、超时空及高速宽带等方面，阐述了多媒体通信的技术基础，并结合实际，从企业广播电视、医疗及教育等几个方面，阐述了多媒体的应用领域，从而对通信技术开发起到一些引导作用。

Multimedia communication is the developing tendency of information communi-cation in future.To get rid of repeated exploitation and blindness of scientific research in construction project,guidance to the development of communication technology is imperative,This article,first,introduces the implication of multi-media communication. Based upon this,it explains the technology foundation of multimedia communication with respect to the mixing,displaying, super-space-time and high speed wide band of multiple media;and in combination with practice from the aspects of enterprise' s TV broadcasting,physical medicine and education, describes its application field,so as to offer somewhat of guidance to the technology development of communication.
