论城市的现代化与国际性

On the modernization and internationalization of cities

现代城市化运动，起源于大工业革命，并伴随工业化进程的发展而不断扩散与普及。当前，我国的大多数地区，工业化与城市化水平仍处于发展中的初级阶段，但在部分发达地区则在经济持续高速增长的有力推动下，已把城市发展的战略目标瞄向了国际，不少城市提出到本世纪末或下世纪初，实现城市的现代化与国际化，并由此引发了一场广泛而热烈的讨论。本文试就这个问题从定性和定量两个方面进行探讨。

The modern movement of urbanization can be traced back to the industrial revolution period and it got popularized along with the development process of the industrialization.In present China,though most of the regions are still at the preliminary level of industrialization and urbanization,the more developed regions,promoted by the sustained high speed of economic growth,have set up their development goals in light with the international level.Many cities have put forward the objective of realizing modernization and internationalization by the turn of the century,which has led to a warm extensive debate.This paper discusses this issue from both the qualitative and quantitative aspects.
